The Stallions that are standing at Girsonfield all have excellent temperaments and very high fertility.
The veterinary care provided is excellent - making sure your mare has the best possible chance of
being in foal when she comes home.

Girsonfield Stud has good quality brood mares and young stock for sale both from the stud and on behalf of clients.
We had a great start to the Year when Definite Appeal - a PTP horse bought for son Jamie - won a three mile chase at Musselburgh ridden very well by Jakub Kocman. Sam won the best turned out so it was a great day all round!
Due to a change of ownership we are now able to reduce the fee of Ferrule. He has a most fabulous pedigree including the great mare 'Al Bahatri'. See the stallion page for more details.
Our best wishes go to all our clients past and present. We look forward to helping you with your breeding requirements this year.
This autumn saw the stallions entertaining their fans at the Girsonfield Open day and also at Kelso races. They paraded before racing and we hope that Kelso will make it an annual event so more people can see the Girsonfield Stallions - and in the new GILLIES lorry they looked the part and traveled in style!
Congratulations to Jakub Kocman who spends his summers race riding in the Czech Republic and his winters working at Girsonfield - the picture says it all!
Well done to connections of Mobane Ali - 3 year old by Ferrule. 2nd over 1 .4 and nearly got here! Success starting at last for FERRULE!

UNUSUAL DOUBLE FOR QUEEN
ELIZABETH II HERO BAHRI
Bahri, whose finest hour on the racecourse came on this day in 1995 when, under an inspired ride by Willie Carson, he landed the Gr.1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, completed an unusual double yesterday. His three-year-old daughter Shareen won the Gr.3 Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes at Gowran Park, her first at Stakes level, while his five-year-old son Redford added to his win in the Ayr Gold Cup last Saturday, with victory in the valuable Totesport.com Challenge Cup at scot. Shareen, who is owned and bred by His Highness The Aga Khan, is a half-sister to the dual Listed-laced Sharleez (Marju), from the immediate family of the dual Derby winner and sire hahrastani (Nijinsky).
Redford, who is out of a half-sister to the Gr.3 Chester Vase winner High Baroque (High Estate), was bred by T J Rooney and is a Goffs and Tattersalls graduate. Former Derrinstown sire Bahri now stands at Girsonfield Stud in Northumberland.
The filly Shareen then follows Redford by winning a 52,000 Euro Group 3 at Gowran Park - a fairly average afternoon at Girsonfield!
After winning the Ayr Gold Cup Redford, son of Bahri, has today created an amazing double by winning the Tote Sport.com challenge cup at Ascot. That is a winning strike of £200,000 in 7 days!Go Bahri!!
It was with great sadness that this year saw the passing of Paul Brennan - a great client and friend of the stud. For many years he searched for the perfect sport horse and this could just be it! Out of the mare Annie V1 by Millkom this chap is sweeping the board with Championships at the shows he has been to so far. Best of luck to Sarah and her new star!
Pink Cat did everything her connections expected of her in her first race as a two year old. She should be out again soon and we watch her and Mobane Ali with interest. As you can see Girsonfield was definitely in on the act! Thanks to Mr Drowne for the posing!
I was lucky enough to visit Horses First Racing at the weekend and saw, first hand, what kind of filly Pink Cat (Ferrule x Barrosa)has grown into. Still as laid back in her stable but a muscle power house to look at - should get a run in two weeks her trainer, Jeremy Gask says.....
Mobane Ali - Ferrule x Penteli, trained by Jessica Harrington in Ireland, was the first ever runner for Ferrule. She ran a great race and was 6th of 13 - most of whom had ran before - we are looking forward to her next run!
Well done to the connections of LANCELOT ( FR ) son of Bahri and winner of the Prix Pelleas Listed race over 2000m in France yesterday - 26th July 2010
BAHRI RELOCATING
TO GIRSONFIELD STUD
Derrinstown Stud has announced that their European
Champion Miler, Bahri (Riverman), will be leased to stand
at Susan Corbett’s Girsonfield Stud in Northumberland next
season.
Bahri won two Gr.1 races for his owner, Sheikh Hamdan
Al Maktoum, scoring impressively by six lengths in the
Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot and recording an equally
emphatic four length success in the St James’s Palace
Stakes at the same venue’s Royal meeting. He was also
Gr.1 placed on four other occasions, including in both the
English and Irish 2,000 Guineas.
Retired to stand at Shadwell Farm in Kentucky, he proved
an immediate success, siring the European Champion
Sakhee and Gr.2 (then) Falmouth Stakes heroine Alshakr
from his first small crops. This prompted his repatriation to
Europe, where he took up duties at Derrinstown.
Since his return, Bahri has been responsible for several high
quality performers, including the Group winners Secret
History, Acts Of Grace and Gesture, and the Stakes
winners Champery, Antonym, Cosmodrome and Albahri.
Bahri’s dam, Wasnah, is a multiple Group producer. She
is a Stakes-placed half-sister to six winners, including
Winglet (Gr.2) and Dance Bid (Gr.3), their dam being the
Champion 2yo Filly and Gr.2 Queen Mary Stakes winner,
Highest Trump.
Speaking of the decision to move the horse, Derrinstown
Stud’s General Manager Stephen Collins said: “Bahri was a
magnificent racehorse who has sired some very useful
performers on the track, including of course his European
Champion Sakhee.
“I’m sure he’ll do a great job for Susan Corbett and, with
his top class pedigree and striking looks, we think he
should prove very popular with British breeders.”
Bahri will be standing alongside the Gr.1 sire Millkom and
first season sire Ferrule (Danehill).
You'll be Grand' a 4 year old won his first race (first run) at Gowran Park in October.
